The Root Note Constraint
We want to define under which condition a constituent can be uttered on its own. The definition contains both syntactic and semantic aspects:
A constituent can be uttered on its own if it meets the following conditions:
- It is is phrase.
- Its HEAD value identifies it as of part of speech v whose VFORM is fin.
- Its SUBJ, SPR, and COMPS lists are empty.
- Its content is of type proposition.
