Science communication for teachers: Future teachers as science communicators in linguistics and TEFL
#SciComm4Teachers is a joint teaching project run by Jan-Erik Leonhardt (TEFL; Braunschweig) and Manfred Sailer (linguistics), in cooperation with Linda Fernandes (TEFL) and Sascha Bargmann (linguistics).
The project investigates the potential of science communication objects as an alternative form of assessment—that is, as an alternative to the traditional, research-oriented term paper. These alternative formats can take the form of Science Slam presentations, videos, podcasts, etc.
The project is primarily directed towards future teachers of English as a foreign language, as teachers are prime science communicators.
The project is financed through QSL-Projektmittel Lehrkräftebildung of the Akademie für Bildungsforschung und Lehrkräftebildung (ABL), Frankfurt a.M.
