The 27th International Conference on Head-Driven Phrase Structure Grammar (HPSG 2020) took place as an online conference, August 17-19.
The program consisted of three invited talks and 11 selected papers. Contributors could prerecord their talks or give them as live presentations. The prerecorded talks were included in the program in the form of a 15 minute “Q&A” slot. They also had a discussion page on the conference web site, which allowed an asynchronous discussion among the authors and the audience.
The overall attendance was very high and geographically distributed over the entire globe. The conference format was very positively perceived, and plans are to have hybrid formats and pure online conferences in the future.
There were three talks with IEAS contribution:
- Gert Webelhuth (invited talk): On C-command Constraints in German: a Corpus-Based Investigation. (abstract)
- Frank Richter: Recursive adjectival modification in CLLRS (abstract, slides)
- Manfred Sailer & Annika Dörner (Erfurt): A smurf-based analysis of placeholder expressions (abstract, slides)
