The proceedings of the International Conference on Head-Driven Phrase Structure Grammar 2021 are now online! They contain three papers (co-)authored by members of the Frankfurt English Linguistics group:
- Form, Julian: Neg-phrases in Eton (Bantu): An HPSG-analysis.
Julian shows that the items corresponding to English neg-words like nobody are syntactically complex in Eton: they consist of an indefinite plus a negative marker. He presents an LRS analysis of these items and of clausal negation in Eton. - Sailer, Manfred: Minimizer negative polarity items in non-negative contexts
Manfred argues that conventional implicatures and generalized conversational implicatures can provide the required licensing context for some NPIs, so not for all. - Sailer, Manfred & Sascha Bargmann: Gluing idioms back together: A phraseo-combinatorial analysis
Manfred and Sascha propose a combination of the combinatorial analyses of idiomatic expressions with a constructional analysis.
Special congratulations to our MA student Julian Form to this publication!
