Carla Parra Escartín (Hermes Traducciones, Madrid) gave two lectures in Frankfurt on May 30, 2016.

Carla gave a talk in Manfred’s class Introduction to Linguistics. She presented basic applications of computational linguistics and how much linguistics there is behind these applications.

In a second talk, in the Oberseminar, Carla discussed the changes to the translation business brought about by the increasing use of output of machine translation algorithms. She presented methods to evaluate whether and to which degree machine translation can make human translation more efficient.
